The Effects of the Nigerian Border Closure

The Department of History and Diplomatic Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences (FAMS) of the KolaDaisi University held the maiden edition of their debate on the topic “The Effects of the Nigerian Border Closure” on Thursday, 27th February, 2020.

International Symposium Organised by FAPS

The Faculty of Applied Sciences organised an International Symposium with the theme: “Advances in Scientific Research in a Transforming World”, on Monday, 5 June, 2023. The programme was hybrid, as it took place both physically and virtually at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium and Zoom, respectfully. The Speakers were, Dr. Philip Savage, a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Sussex County Hospital, UK, Dr. Godfrey Kyazze, Reader in Bioprocess Technology at the University Westminster, UK and Professor S. O. Akinola of the Department of Computer Science, University of Ibadan. A total of 26 participants were recorded on both modules.

2nd Science Exhibition and Quiz Competition

The Faculty of Applied Science held its 2nd edition of the above programme on Thursday, 25 May, 2023. The event which was widely covered by various media, recorded 21 Secondary Schools in attendance with the display of scientific and technological innovations from some of the schools. The Quiz Competition had Mount Olivet Grammar School, Bodija, Ibadan as the winner, while Deeper Life High School, Moniya, Ibadan and Lariken International College, Ologuneru, Ibadan were the first and second runner-ups.

National Universities Commission (NUC) Training on Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards for the Nigerian University System (CCMAS)

The University sponsored three members of staff to the 3-day training programme organised by the NUC on how to effectively maximise the 30% local content into the Universities’ Curricular across academic disciplines/programmes. The training took place between 15 and 18 May, 2023. Those who represented the University were:
• Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji;
• Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Hassan;
• The Ag. Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Shekinat Kola-Aderoju.

Staff Recognition

• The Ag. Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Shekinat Kola-Aderoju was invited to Chair the International Conference at Chrisland University between 29-31 March, 2023.
• A staff of the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Margaret Achibong-Okonneh, was nominated by the Lagos Studies Association for a 10-day Writing retreat in Lagos, while, Dr. Shekinat Kola-Aderoju, attended the 7th Annual Lagos studies Association Conference between 20 and 24 June, 2023, which had participants from 163 countries out of which 95 Nigerian Universities also participated

Departmental Programmes

a. Department of History and Diplomatic Studies held its 3rd ECOWAS Model Summit on Thursday, 06 June, 2023 at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium. Professor Olaniyi from the University of Ibadan coordinated the programme. b. Department of Political Science and International Relations held its Departmental Lecture on Tuesday, 18 April, 2023 at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium. The Lecture was delivered by Prof. Lere Amusan, the Chair and Professor of International Relations at the Northwest University, South Africa

Capacity Building and Workshop for Students

a. The Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences held its maiden Workshop for Graduating students on Thursday, 25 May, 2023 at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium. The Facilitator for the maiden edition of the programme was Mr. Michael Oshindoro of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, United State. b. The second series was held on Thursday, 8 June, 2023 at the same venue. Lecturers from the Faculty were facilitators while the following topics were treated: • Writing CVs, Application Letters and Preparing for Job Interviews, • Creating a Niche for yourself • Surviving in a competitive market environment

Partnership and Collaboration

Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos The University, through the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies, has entered into a partnership agreement with the NIIA, to afford students from the department and the International Relations department the opportunity to undergo Internship at the Institute. In line with the agreement, five (5) students (3 from History and Diplomatic Studies & 2 from International Relations) were accepted for the Internship programme starting from Monday, 10 July to Tuesday, 10 October, 2023.
Foreign Service Academy, Lagos The University is also concluding an agreement with the Foreign Service Academy in Lagos for the training of our students from the department of International Relations, in Diplomatic Affairs.

FAPS Seminar

The Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAPS) of the KolaDaisi University, Ibadan held its seminar series titled “Water Issues in Africa: Need for New African Perspectives for Sustainability” on Monday, 24th of February, 2020 at the Sherifat Agbeke KolaDaisi Auditorium.

Advancing Data Journalism Training

The Department of Mass Communication, Koladaisi University, Ibadan in conjunction with the Dataphyte Academy a subsidiary of interactive Abuja, held a 2-day ‘Training the Trainers Workshop” between Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th January, 2021.
