Advancing Data Journalism Training

The Department of Mass Communication, Koladaisi University, Ibadan in conjunction with the Dataphyte Academy a subsidiary of interactive Abuja, held a 2-day ‘Training the Trainers Workshop” between Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th January, 2021.

The training was aimed at equipping the staff of the department with additional knowledge about Data Journalism as well as inculcating new ideas that can be implemented into the already existing Journalism curriculum while also developing new areas of focus for degree awards and certificates.

On Wednesday 27th the first day of the training, Mrs. Yetunde Alagbe the Principal Assistant Registrar (PAR) of Koladaisi University, Ibadan received the guests on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and the entire management. In her remarks, she expressed gratitude to the team for choosing to support and train the university staff and also reinforced the importance and benefits of the training to the educational gains and lives of the students and staff collectively.

The training team was led by Mr. Joshua Olufemi assisted by Mr. Charles Mba, who both took the staff through the different intriguing aspects of Data Journalism as part of their non-profit responsibilities. Upon completion of the training the team was shown the rich Koladaisi University’s house style of gratitude presented by Dr. T. O. Ojo, the Acting Dean of Students Affairs.
