Koblowe Obono is a Professor of Communication and Media Studies; current Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences at KolaDaisi University; and former Postgraduate Coordinator at University of Ibadan (UI). She obtained her PhD in Health Communication from the University of Ibadan and has diverse academic, administrative and field experience in different social environments. Professor Obono has spent over 20 years working in Development Communication and Media Studies, with focus on health, politics, gender and sociocultural communication at Bowen University (2004-2008), Covenant University (2009-2012), University of Ibadan (2012-date), Makerere University, Uganda (2019) and KolaDaisi University (2021-date). Earlier, she worked at various research, publication and broadcast media outfits, including the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Bauchi (1994-95). She is a humanities and social science methodologist, with skills in qualitative and quantitative research. In addition to Research Methodology, Obono has taught courses in Writing for the Mass Media, Media Planning, Media and Society, Communication and Society, Sociology of Communication, Health Communication, Announcing and Performance, Principle of Advertising and Marketing, Investigative Journalism, Reporting the Environment, and Reporting the Economy, among others. She is an expert in media analysis, research and training.
On research, Professor Obono has engaged in different health and development consultancies with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Population Council, the Department for International Development (DFID) funded Partnerships for Transforming Health Systems, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ford Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, African Humanities Program, Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), the Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA), TBWA\Concept, Millennium Advancement Initiative and the Lagos State Government. Being a consummate scholar, Obono is Consultant Methodologist, Principal Researcher and Media Analyst. Her involvement in research transcends the academia.
