Overview
Welcome to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. (FBMS).
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (FBMS) at the KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Our faculty, which is the foundation of all Medical- and Allied Health- Sciences currently houses five departments, viz; Human Anatomy, Physiology, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Nursing Sciences. The programmes are designed to meet the need of modern day Basic Medical Scientists and Allied Health professionals. The faculty is blessed with competent and dedicated lecturers, administrative and technical staff who takes time to provide personal advice and mentoring, so that students can achieve their career goals. In addition, the FBMS has a community of academic leaders who believes that interdisciplinary, diverse, and inclusive teaching and research are critical to success in an ever changing society. Apart from the crop of experienced staff, the environment of FBMS, KDU is conducive for learning and equipment are available for cutting edge researches. The members of staff of FBMS, KDU inspire discovery and innovation with commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of local, national, and global communities.
In line with the KDU vision of becoming a world-class institution for excellence in the production of graduates able to respond to the socio-economic needs of knowledge-driven economy, the FBMS is poised to:
- Train professionals in medical- and allied health- sciences emphasising a team approach to health care delivery that would enable graduates expand professional knowledge and skills for service to the community and humanity.
- Relate the training to national policies in order to provide comprehensive health care (curative and preventive) to rural or urban communities.
- Contribute to national development, self-reliance and unity through advancement and propagation of knowledge in the field of the Basic Medical- and Allied Health- Sciences.
Prepare students for leadership positions in governments, businesses, and the non-governmental spheres at national and international levels
Departments
The Faculty has four departments approved for it by the National University Commission (NUC):
- Department of Anatomy.
- Department of Physiology
- Department of Medical Public Health
- Department of Nursing
Programmes & Activities
All the programmes under FMBS have been fully accredited by NUC).

The lecture was delivered by Dr. O. B. Ogunro of the Department of Biological Sciences and was titled “That We May Live Without Sickness: The Role of Ageing and Inflammation.”

KolaDaisi University Lecturer Secures Grant
The significance of Dr. Karigidi’s invention was acknowledged on an international platform. To mark World Intellectual Property Day on April 26th, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) scheduled an interview with Dr. Karigidi, which was broadcast by TVC media house.

Koladaisi Varsity’s Law Week
At Koladaisi Varsity’s Law Week, VC, NBA Chair, others task students on advocacy, good conduct to tackle Nigeria’s problems. They stressed the need for Law students to hone their skills, advocate reforms and embrace good characters as well as ethics to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s problems.
